This is more a review of Amazon than it is of the phone. I ordered the phone through Amazon, with the specification that I wanted to KEEP my old phone number.

I received the phone promptly…. without a MANUAL. While setting up the phone with AT&T, they said that sometimes things get left out when buying with other providers. Now, this wouldn’t normally be a big deal because you can find whatever information you need on-line. But this is a really complicated phone!!!! I couldn’t make heads or tails of anything I was looking at. Once you know where everything is, I imagine it would be much easier to operate. But I had issues.

And then I was informed that because of a glitch in Amazon’s site, that my old number had not transferred over to my new phone. And because where I live now has a different area code than my original number, AT&T couldn’t make the transfer for me. So now I have to return everything. So much for trying to save some dough.

I was so excited about getting this phone! Read all the reviews and specs, I couldn’t wait, my only fear was with AT&T. Years ago, I had their service and it was bad, but thought I’d give them another try since many seemed happy.

Well there are many things I love about this phone, great for texting, very responsive touchscreen, very fast web browser, good picture and call quality to name a few.

What I didn’t like was the volume of the ring tones were too soft, if I were outside, I could barely hear it ringing, also the vibration mode, I could barely feel it vibrate, but I was still willing to keep it despite these drawbacks.

The dealbreaker for me, is when I went into my local Pathmark supermarket and had absolutely no signal, no 3G, no gsm, nada! I couldn’t call or text. To me this was unacceptable, I could understand if I were in a subway or elevator, but a store thats in a major city, NY, please! And I always got service in this store using Sprint and Verizon.

It seemed to be the same old AT&T. Some things never change.

I need a phone that I can depend on, a phone that will ring if someone is trying to call, if I’m paying top dollar with a 2 year subscription, I expect good service.

I doubt that it was because of the Impression, I blame the carrier.

Needless to say I returned the phone, I’m sure there were probably other places where I wouldn’t get reception, but I wasn’t willing to wait that long to find out.

The LG envy touch is coming out June 5th, gonna give that a try.

  3. I initially liked this phone for the look of it…very stylish, like the color, like the size and weight, beautiful screen. It does have great features; calendar, contacts, touchscreen, camera, music, etc. all work fine.

However. Starting in the first week of owning it I ran into a major problem. It wouldn’t send text messages. The message will attempt to send then just get stuck in the outbox. I did some research online and found this to be a problem for just about EVERYBODY with this phone. The only resolve is to turn the phone off and back on to get the text message to go through. This probably happens 3 or 4 times a day. For a phone that classifies itself as a great texting phone…this is a joke. Another big problem is the vibrating mode. I have it set on vibrate, and didn’t even realize it wasn’t working till I dropped it once then it really started vibrating. Well that didn’t last long; it is back to this pathetic, unnoticable vibrate that wouldn’t even get anybodies attention. Other dislikes/problems: the unlock button is hard to push, you can’t see the screen AT ALL in the sunlight, no camera flash.

at first i wanted the HTC phone but since my wife has the eternity, i decided to get this phone. compare to my 8125, this phone is sleeker and more user friendly. Since i don’t use all of the applications like GPS and the yellow pages, i can’t complain. so if you like the eternity with a slider, this is you phone to get.
